This research brief summarizes key findings from the Out of the Shadows study, highlighting the severe challenges facing LGBTQI+ individuals in Syria and the urgent need for inclusive protection, advocacy, and policy responses.

Methodology:

• Online survey (136 responses)
• Semi-structured qualitative interviews (37 responses)

Limitations:
While the sample is not statistically representative, the findings provide critical insight into widespread and under-documented protection risks, particularly for LGBTQI+ individuals outside major urban centers.
